May 15 - Gather Round

Second-to-last-day of Theory, three student-teachers, plus Mike Milazo presenting another marvelous composition full of rhythmic interest (explicated on the board).

Commute there-

and-

back

again,

temperature down again (now 78)

on this 56th day of summer, composing page 4 of Six Enneads: VI, finish score-studying Samuel Barber's Overture to "The School for Scandal" (alas just the first 9 pages total, amounting to the exposition of Theme 1, will be all we can perform for now) and emailing out pdf parts of Arnold Schoenberg's Pelleas und Melisande (we'll just do a brief excerpt) to Opus Project Orchestra folks -- much of this over fascinating videos with Harriet, including

Decoding Neanderthals (not as primitive as we thought, and perhaps Cro Magnons, who outnumbered them 10-1, didn't kill'em but loved'em)...

Oh, and later, arrange to have the piano-vocal score of the Hindemith and the Barber parts sent out to OPO musicians.  Recruit composer-hornist Jan Pusina for the Opus 5 presentation, and gratefully receive his Tape Composition No. 2, Op. 5 (1975).  Then create three videos, respectively, for Sergei Prokofiev's Sinfonietta, Op. 5, No. 4; Benjamin Britten's Holiday Diary: I. Early Morning Bathe, Op. 5; and the Pusina.
