Among iMovie's shortcomiings is a failure to keep muted clips mute -- evidently the issue has been known for several years now, without an evident fix... the situation actually curtailed the completion of the Camino Real videos quite awhile back -- learn that the issue is at least partially connected to changing the speed of videos to non default settings (333 for instance, rather than 200 or 400), so will try to plan accordingly in future...
