Happy 26th birthday to Chris,
on this the 100th anniversary of Igor Stravinsky's tumultuous Rite of Spring premiere --
calling the former (the latter being unavailable) from a southern California spot, looking forward to our rendezvous tomorrow!
For now,
up reasonably early at John's,
and out with
same to
White Rabbit for more talk,
then back for videos and
out
again
to
Queen
Bean.
A
leisurely
morning --
what with 600+ pictures to deal with from yesterday (a new record, with previous highs in the 400's) --
so,
no further questions for now,
rather,
a
moderately-
paced
return,
via
Mongolian
Barbeque,
then
onward through Los Angeles (210 beyond Baldwin Park,
Pasadena,
the
Verdugo
Range,
with
its
winding
pass
into
the
San
Fernando
Valley;
up and through Weldon
and
Gavin Canyons to the
Santa Clarita
Valley,
stringing
up
Violin
Canyon
to the
Ridge
Route,
in sight of
Piru Gorge,
Pyramid Lake,
Liebre
Canyon,
Black
Mountains,
to
Hungry
and
Peace
Valleys,
Gorman
Ridge,
and
Tejon
Pass),
Kern
(Tejon
Ridge,
the
suprisingly
pastoral
Valley, and
Fort;
the
great
descent
of
Grapevine
Canyon
to
the
San
Fernando
Valley,
cutting past the
California
Aqueduct, to
Murray Farms,
the Sierra
and
Coast Ranges as distant memories on the horizon,
a supply stop at Buttonwillow,
and
on
beyond
Lost Hills),
Kings,
Fresno
(Panoche Ridge
and
Mercey Springs),
Merced
(San Luis Dam)
Stanislaus
(Shane P. Donlon Ranch), and
San Joaquin Counties -- the darkness sets in. Mid-evening return to Harriet includes a Tisha adventure (now you see her, but, as there's no iPad power supply, now you don't).
