I. Schlössli bschnyde
Gärtner, chum cho d'Schlößli bschnyde!
s'mags nid jedes Stündeli lyde,
s'git gar fyni drunder!
Und wär eis so weich wie Syde:
Chunt de Rächtcho d'Schlößli bschnyde,
denn passiert es Wunder.
Gartner, come the shoots cut!
S' may be's not every perennial suffering.
S'there is even fine eating!
Was the one as soft as silk:
the rights would be to cut the shoots,
then it happens!
Mark Alburger (b. 1957)
The Lords Prayer, Op. 5 (1975) (Matthew 6:9-13, KJV)
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

***
An eventful day,
beginning with Opus 5 program printing and partial publication of scores for The Decameron - First Day (both machines breaking down at the local Staples, plus the non-availability of machine-stapling [!] and edge-trim),
flying
down
and
across
to
Concord Pass
and
a
rehearsal
in Pittsburg with
Lawrence Huang and Maria Gusenkov of the evening's music.
For the next
act,
proceed with
alacrity to
DVC for first
Decameron rehearsal with
Harriet March Page and Cass Panuska -- examining the ten video libretti and initial assignation of parts.
After this,
off to CyberCopy to finally produce scores,
then over and under hill to
Berkeley Arts Festival for the set-up,
soundcheck, and
show. Homeward after to compose page 8 of Hamlet on this 66th day of summer, high again 78.
