In the Philadelphia area to visit
Bette and George,
and be a part of the fourth-annual Swarthmore College Student / Alumni Composition Concert,
after overnighting from San Francisco and transferring in
Dallas in
sun,
clouds,
and
cacophony.
First
stop,
Media's Court Diner
for a Fisherman's Platter,
then
back
to the
B & G homestead,
setting
out
after
a
few
hours
for
Lang Music Building,
rendezvous'ing with
Deborah How and
Andrew Hauze,
rehearsing Portraits of Three [Flute] Players (Op. 11),
avec la former to
fine effect.
From
here,
take
off
for
a
nostalgic
wander
through
the
local
area,
ultimately
searching
and
rescuing
a
cheesesteak
and
hoagie
from
Anna's,
plus a creme-filled item at Dunkin' Donuts (with a soft pretzel later in the evening, this covers many of the Philadelphia food groups), all back to Bette and George's.
Later in the evening,
blitz over via I-95,
near Center City,
and beyond,
surmounting the Ben Franklin to visit
Don and
Urs and
company,
returning late. High, a notable 71, missing the 215th day of summer back in the local California area, where the reading climbs to 75.
