January 17 - Connecting the Lines
Thus
beginneth
the
endeth
of
the
first week re Spring 2013 DVC,
with Quiz 1 for the Theoreticians -- examples drawn from early / traditional African and Asian sources.
Stop by,
after encountering somewhat challenging but yet serendipitous parking conditions, the Arts Division Office for typical beginning-of-semester paperwork, with the pleasant new assistant Leticia (although Jason is missed, and best wishes to him in graduate school back east).
Make
the
jump to Marin (the first in a while it seems) for the classic paper-grading regimen at Celia's, errands including
paying the semi-yearly postbox fee,
and
returning,
relatively
heavy-traffic-free
at
this
earlier
hour (another advantage of the advanced Theory start) through the default Central / Northern California scenic splendors,
via more stops,
(seemingly every school around gets out at this time) to begin score study the Benjamin Britten Sinfonietta and compose The Decameron - Third Day: Novel VIII. "Ferondo, Having Taken a Certain Powder, Is Disinterred by the Abbot, Who Enjoys his Wife", page 3.
