June 4 - Night Once More / To Be In the Crosshairs, or Not

More catch-up, composing page 15 of Hamlet: Act I, Scene 1, beginning score-study of Alban Berg's Three Pieces for Orchestra, Op. 6, No. 1,

with a late night blast to The University of California at Davis

Library, almost satisfactorily studying Charles Ives's Holidays Symphony: The Fourth of July Finale, but more successfully coming to terms with Sergei Prokofiev's Hamlet, Op. 77, No. 1 ("The Ghost of Hamlet's Father") and Dmitri Shostakovich's Hamlet, Op. 32 -- and, voila!, also learn that, while the latter is farcical, DS returned seriously to the subject with a

score to Grigori Kozintsev's 1964 Hamlet, as his

Op. 116. so,

will definitely have to check that out next time...  75th day of summer, high again cooler at 84, re-reviewing the

Paul Bowles's intriguing A Hundred Camels in the Courtyard ("A pipe of kif before breakfast makes a man as strong as a hundred camels in the courtyard" -- his writing in decided counterpoint to his music, his visual-artistic sense displayed on the City Lights cover), some of this over

a video on the Cristero War, page 13 composed for Hamlet, and score-study of third system re Anton Webern's Six Pieces for Orchestra, Op. 6, on this 73rd day of summer, high 95 (coming down).  Also begin designing the postcard for Fresh Voices XIII: Mischief and Mayhem.
